The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Mason Raymond to a one-year contract.
“Based on Mason’s play in the preseason, we feel he fits in well with our group and will have a significant role on our team,” said Nonis. “We agreed to terms over the weekend and look forward to him making a strong contribution this season.”
Raymond, 28, played 46 games for the Vancouver Canucks in 2012-13, collecting 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) with 16 penalty minutes and a plus-two (+2) rating. He ranked second on Vancouver in powerplay goals (4) and fourth in goals (tie-10).
Speaking Tuesday for the first time since returning to the ice, Tim Thomas said it did not cross his mind to play again until watching his former Bruins teammates reach the finals.

Pietrangelo led the team's defensemen with 24 points -- five goals and 19 assists -- and was among the league leaders with an average of 25 minutes per game.
Pietrangelo had been holding out.
"We kept him up to date until we couldn't speak to him anymore," Ken Hitchcock said. "He knows the last couple weeks what's going on ... players have kept him up to date."
Jared Cowen and the Ottawa Senators have reached a stalemate on a new contract.
Cowen is a restricted free agent.
The Senators have offered Cowen a four-year contract worth $2.8 million per season.
GM Tim Murray said the team offered an eight-year contract and the sides are discussing the four-year offer.
Murray acknowledged he "considers four years a bridge [contract]" and would like to meet with Cowen face to face Monday in Saskatoon if possible. He last spoke to Cowen on Tuesday.
"I guess we're at a stalemate," Murray said. "I think we really stepped up on our last proposal."
The Blues opened training camp without restricted free-agent defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who is waiting for a new deal.
Blues GM Doug Armstrong said Wednesday that discussions between the team and Pietrangelo's agent have reached an impasse "for now."

According to an NHL source, Thomas' camp is in discussions with multiple teams about a possible contract or tryout in training camp.
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reported Monday night that left wing Daniel Cleary will sign a three-year contract with the Flyers worth an average of $2.75M per year.
The deal is not expected to become official until the end of the month, according to St. James.
Cleary, 34, spent the past eight seasons with the Red Wings. In 48 games last season, he had nine goals, six assists and 40 penalty minutes.
Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said franchise players Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, who can be unrestricted free agents after the 2014-15 season, "will be here forever."
"I can't predict what the salary cap will be in the near future, but I can tell you that Jonathan and Patrick will be on this team," Bowman told the team's website.
